Area Police
Approximately 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located multiple other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they added.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.
A high-ranking official said the attack rendered him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
